Objectives
The course aims to give basic knowledge about planned communication where the theories and methods applies in the design process.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to:
1. know basic concepts in the planned communication
2. use and explain the planned communication in the design process
3. identify needs of different stakeholders in a process of communication
4. discuss opportunities and problems with different communication channels
5. present to the group process and results of a design process
6. have basic knowledge in the scientific approach and academic writing
Course content
The course includes theory and practical exercises as well as introduction to various tools used in a communication process.

Tuition
Teaching is through lectures, individual - and group assignments, workshops, seminars and presentations.

Examination
Group assignment (GRU 1), 6 credits, examines the learning objectives 1-5, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG)
Examination (TEN1), written examination, 1,5 credits, examines the learning objectives 1-2, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
