Literature lists

Objectives
The objective of the course is to obtain knowledge in how to formulate and design a research project within innovation and design. An additional objective of the course is to give knowledge in for innovation and design essential qualitative methods. The aim for the students is to know how to decide and to use suitable methods in order to solve a design problem and to formulate innovative strategies.
Learning outcomes
After the course is fulfilled the students should:
- design a research project including objectives, research questions and description of actual methods, and motivate the research plan
- be able to realize smaller research oriented innovation and design studies in which problems are solved by scientific methods in a scientific way
Course content
The course is related to qualitative methods that are used in research that concerns innovation and design. That is ethnographic methods such as observations, interviews and analysis of empirical data. In addition the course will covers different processes for innovation and design with focus on development of products and services. The course will deal with the relation between theories a practice in research methods related to innovation and design.

Specific requirements
At least 7,5 credit points Project Methodology for Innovation and Design and at least 7,5 credit points Quantitative Research Methods or similar. This can be achieved by "Project Methodology for Innovation and Design" 7,5 credit points and "Applied Quantitative Research Methods" 7,5 credit points.

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
