Objectives

Development of the subject with focus of the possibilities that emerge in a group situation or other collaborational practice.

Learning outcomes

After fulfilled course the student is expected to be able to:
-orally and in writing show on the possibilities that choral singing can give to a group.
-explain for how working in group in the subject affects the own disciplin.
-orally and in writing show on repertoire for the group.
-individually activate a group after given premisses.
-without problem keep the own part in part-singing consisting of 3-4 voices.
-work vocally in a group.

Course content

Seminars.
Singing and speech training.
Breathing exercises.
Voice theory.
Posture.
Theory of music.
Interpretation.
Practical preparation (through concerts).
Choral exercises.

Tuition

Tuition in large and small groups. Singing technique and voice preservation tuition mainly in groups.

Specific requirements

Singing and Choral-practice II, 7,5 credits or equivalent.

Examination

Exercise (INL2), 1.5 credits, marks Pass (G)
Seminar (SEM1), 6 credits, marks Pass (G)

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.

Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
