Literature lists

Objectives
The course objective is that the student shall demonstrate their ability to meet the learning objectives of the curriculum for Master Program in Innovation and Design, 120 Credits.
Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the field of innovation and design, including a broad knowledge in the field and substantially deeper knowledge of certain parts of the field and deeper insight into current research and development.
- Demonstrate deeper methodological knowledge in innovation and design.
- Demonstrate an ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge and to analyze, evaluate and deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, even when limited information exists.
- Demonstrate an ability to critically, independently and creatively identify and formulate questions and to plan and use appropriate methods, carry out advanced tasks in a timely manner, thus contributing to knowledge and to evaluate this work.
- Demonstrate an ability to both nationally and internationally, orally and in writing clearly present and discuss their conclusions and the knowledge and arguments behind them, in dialogue with different groups.
- Demonstrate the skills required to independently participate in research and development work or in other advanced contexts.
- Demonstrate an ability to within the main field innovation and design make judgments with regard to relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects, and demonstrate an awareness of ethical aspects of research and development.
- Demonstrate insight of the possibilities and limitations within science, its role in society and humans responsibility for how it is used.
- Demonstrate an ability to identify the need for further knowledge and to take responsibility for their knowledge development.
Course content
The problem that is to function as the basis for the thesis is to be found within an ongoing research project at the university, a company, or society at large.
Tuition
Supervision by an assigned supervisor or examiner at the university and, where applicable, by an external client. NB: Each student is to make sure that regular contact is maintained between the student and the supervisor(s) (cf. our guidelines for degree projects).
Specific requirements
30 hp at advanced level in the main field of study Innovation and design including at least 5 credits in the course Project Methodology for Innovation and Design (INO408).

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
