Literature lists
Course literature is preliminary up to 8 weeks before course start. Course literature can be valid over several semesters.
Objectives
The aim of the course is to broaden the perspectives on innovation, by working subject integrated, multi disciplinary and system oriented. During the course there will be opportunities to practice some methods for reflection.
Learning outcomes
Account for innovation as a phenomenon, from different perspectives through a systematic view.
In speech and writing problematize innovation as an idea.
Be able to independently express reflections in speech and writing.
Account for the personal standpoint regarding innovation and ethics.
Show the ability to contribute to development in multi disciplinary groups.
Show the ability to identify the need of knowledge within the specific area, and to acquire this knowledge.
Course content
The course consists of two parts:
- I one part of the course, different methods for reflection is used for the deepening and broadening of the understanding of innovation. The work is performed individually and in groups.
- In the other part of the course, innovation is valued from different perspectives. The work is performed individually and in groups, and documented in written.
Tuition
The forms for education will mainly be seminars and lectures, and the work in groups and individually.
Specific requirements
Bachelor in science within Information design, Innovation science and management or Product and process development. Also required are upper-secondary English course A and upper-secondary advanced-level Swedish course B.
Examination
Exercise (INL1), 4.5 credits, marks Pass (G)

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
