Objectives

The aim of the course is to give each student a personal reference point for building both theoretical and practical knowledge about entrepreneurship.

Learning outcomes

After the course the student should be able to:
- Describe entrepreneurship orally and in writing
- Develop and critically asses entrepreneurial ideas
- Present a personal idea in progress about a product, service, process or function
- Act pragmatically and constructively, both individually and together with others, in order to reach entrepreneurial goals

Course content

Deployment of entrepreneurial ideas 1 is a course that high lights the individual actor and the entrepreneurial practice. Through the course the student will develop a personal view on entrepreneurship. Focus is on the early stages of product, service, process or function development, where creativity and idea development are important features. Simultaneously the student will practice project methodology and take part in different group processes.

Tuition

In an entrepreneurial spirit the course teaching and tuition will be formed through a social process involving both students and teachers. Through this the student will spring forward as an active creator of knowledge in contrast to a more passive role as knowledge consumer. In accordance with this the latter parts of the course are less structured than the earlier parts.

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.

Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
