Reference literature
Objectives
General aim is that the student acquires deeper and expanded knowledge about theories and models in the area occupational health and safety. Focus is on the analyses and integration of complex questions regarding prevention and promotion of health related initiatives in the work place.
Learning outcomes
When the course is finished students should be able to:
- describe, compare and apply relevant theories and models showing the relationship between work and health
- give an account of and analyze working conditions related to health from an integrated theoretical and practical perspective
- describe and suggest preventive and health promotive measures in the work place
- account for and discuss health promoting leadership critically
- suggest and explain applicable measures aiming to develop and improve the psychosocial work environment
Course content
Theories and models relating health at work on individual, group, work place and societal level
Physical, organizational and psychosocial work environment related to health of employees
Laws and regulations in occupational health service (OHS) and work related rehabilitation
Work place health promotion and health promoting leadership
Specific requirements
A completed bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education of three years or more, equivalent to 180 credits in one of the following subject areas: Public Health Science, Caring Science with Specialisation in Nursing, Nursing science, Medical Science, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or the equivalent. In addition Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English B/English 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish B/Swedish 3.
