Objectives
The objective of the course is to provide the student with opportunity to develop and strengthen their leadership for pedagogical development and to enhance their understanding of the impact the leader has on quality in education.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to
- demonstrate ability to reflect on the meaning of and prerequisites for leadership, and the impact it has on pedagogical development
- demonstrate ability to independently and jointly with others, analyse and problematise the pedagogical practice, of relevance for the student
- demonstrate ability to promote pedagogical development
- demonstrate ability to, based on the scholarship of teaching and learning, promote the development of teachers

- Leadership for pedagogical development, based on the questions what, why and how
- Scholarship of teaching and learning
- Perspectives on leadership within higher education
- Planning and implementation of pedagogical development
Specific requirements
First-cycle qualification of at least 180 credits and at least one year of professional experience as a leader in teaching or in direct support of teaching at a university college or university or equivalent relevant experience.
In addition Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3 and English course 6 or English level 2 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3.
Examination
SEM1, Seminar, 3 credits, active participation in seminars concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
VIL1, Activity-integrated learning, 1.5 credits, establishment of action plan and conducting discussions for pedagogical development concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
