"Students help us to develop new technologies and ideas"

Mei Hong Bjerstedt works as a Product Developer Engineer at Volvo Construction Equipment in Eskilstuna. She says that the company is constantly on the lookout for students who can help develop new ideas and technologies.

Every year, Volvo Construction Equipment takes in students who do their degree projects at the company.

“We usually participate in the degree project days in both Eskilstuna and Västerås every year. It's a chance for us to get in contact with students who are available to complete a degree project or get a summer job,” she says.

She says that degree projects are also an excellent opportunity to find potential new employees.

“Through the degree projects, you get a chance to meet students and get to know one another. This is an opportunity for the student to get a foot in the company which may eventually lead to a future job. At the same time, the student can help the company develop new ideas and technologies. Everyone benefits from it,” she says.

Mei is currently looking for female engineers in particular.

“Naturally everyone is welcome to apply for their degree project with us, but as we don’t have that many female engineers working with us, we try to keep an extra lookout for them.”
