MDU runs various projects in collaboration with the private sector, municipalities, authorities and organisations. Activities relate to anything from research projects to degree projects and the development of courses. Local, regional as well as global.

Platforms

Several projects and partnerships take place through the collaborative platforms linked to MDU. The collaborative platforms have an important function in strengthening the relationships between research, education, the private and the public sectors. The platforms offer opportunities for companies and organisations to participate in research and degree projects that in various ways take on societal challenges. Projects that enhance skills supply, climate change, developed innovation capacity, school development, health and welfare, digitalisation and strengthen business enterprise.

Automation Region

Automation Region is a centre of expertise and research at MDU which gathers small companies, large corporations, academia and the public sector in an industry-dependent cluster. Together with 160 member organisations, Automation Region’s mission is to promote Swedish automation expertise, stimulate innovations and energise the industry's long-term skills supply. Automation Region is financed with funds from the EU, Tillväxtverket (the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth), Vinnova and other regional operators.

Centre for welfare change

The Centre for welfare change is a meeting place where the public sector, academia, business and civil society develop the welfare of the future based on the possibilities of health and welfare technology.

Electrification Hub

Electrification Hub is a collaborative platform that gathers expertise in joint efforts to accelerate the development of electrification, energy and electromobility and further drive climate change in Sweden and internationally. The goal is to help reduce the environmental impact of heavy transport in Sweden, which involves a 70 per cent reduction in emissions.

MDU Living Lab - ways to collaborate

MDU Living Lab is arena for methodological development which strengthens collaboration between MDU, companies and the public sector. By developing methods for co-production, opportunities are created to increase efficiency, creativity and innovation capacity. The vision is to contribute to a sustainable society from a holistic perspective through collaboration.

Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center - MITC

MITC develops industry, academia and society by converting knowledge from the Schools into the organisations of industrial companies.

Mälardalens teaching and learning skills centre (MKL)

Mälardalens teaching and learning skills centre, (MKL) is the regions’ platform for collaboration regarding school development, teacher education, skills enhancement and research in the educational sciences.

Samhällskontraktet

MDU works together with Eskilstuna Municipality and Västerås City on issues relating to research and the development of health, welfare, preschool and school, through Samhällskontraktet.

Sörmlandskontraktet

Sörmlandskontraktet is a partnership between MDU, Eskilstuna Municipality and Eskilstuna Fabriksförening (organisation of companies in Eskilstuna) and which provides MDU in Eskilstuna with access to a unique offering of courses and programmes linked to digitalisation and IT.

Commissioned education for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

The commissioned education offered by MDU through Tillväxtmotorn can support you when your company is ready to grow. With the help of other business leaders, recognised experts in business development and MDU’s researchers, you can bring yourself and your company to the next level.
