Safety and security
Fire safety
There is an automatic evacuation alarm installed on the University’s premises. The alarm is connected directly to the local emergency services.
If the fire alarm goes off
Leave the premises immediately where you are. Use the closest fire escape route and go to one of the fire assembly points:
Eskilstuna – Strömsholmen
Västerås – the parking spaces on both sides of the main entrance (Länken)
If you discover a fire
Rescue/alert
- Rescue those persons who are in immediate danger of being injured by the smoke and heat generated by the fire.
- Press the fire alarm button if the alarm hasn’t been set off.
Call
- Call SOS Alarm by dialling 112 even if the automatic fire alarm has gone off.
Extinguish the fire
- Try to extinguish the fire if you think you can do this by yourself. Don’t take any unnecessary risks!
For your own safety
Study the evacuation/fire escape plans that are placed around the University’s premises and make a note of:
- Where the nearest fire escape route is
- Where the fire alarm button is and where the firefighting equipment is located.
