Externally employed doctoral students and municipal doctoral students
A doctoral student researches a problem that the employer needs help solving and thus contributes to the development of the organisation and society.
The externally employed doctoral students and municipal doctoral students are the link between the research and the organisation. Through practice-led research, the organisations will see direct results and gain new knowledge and understanding of new approaches. The University's research teams receive assistance from the doctoral students to ensure that the research conducted is relevant in practice. The feedback from the organisations is valuable for the development of the University's courses and study programmes, which means that the students also benefit from the cooperation.
An externally employed doctoral student is a research student who is employed by a company and is pursuing a third-cycle education within their position. A municipal doctoral student is a person who is pursuing third-cycle education and at the same time works in the municipality.
The third-cycle education can be conducted on a full-time or part-time basis.
