AI-assisted CO2 capture in biomass-based combined heat and power plants

The goal of the project is to develop artificial intelligence (AI) assisted solutions for the optimization of dynamic operation of chemical absorption integrated in combined heat and power plants. AI will be used to predict flue gas flow and flue gas composition, based on on-line measurement of fuel composition, from which the operation of chemical absorption can be optimized.

By investigating the dynamic interaction between the heat supply to the district heating network and the heat demand for the CO2 capture, AI is used to optimize the performance of combined heat and power plants. The result should increase the rate of CO2 capture, reduce the cost and promote the application of BECCS.
