Collaboration contributes to societal benefits

Martin Hellström, Vice-Chancellor at MDU and Melker Jernberg, CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment.

On 25 November MDU and Volvo Construction Equipment renewed their strategic collaboration agreement. A well-established partnership was renewed with the aim of creating societal benefits through co-production.

Mälardalen University (MDU) and Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) have enjoyed a well-established and strategic partnership since 2013. The strategic agreement is now being renewed and the objective is to build further on the successful collaboration that has taken place. Great potential and future possibilities therefore exist in continued cooperation.

“The goal of the new strategic collaborative agreement is to enhance the collaboration between Mälardalen University and Volvo Construction Equipment. Together we wish to contribute to solutions for a sustainable future by developing automation, digitalisation, electrification and production systems,” says Martin Hellström, Vice-Chancellor at MDU.

Over the years, our cooperation has developed to being both long-term and proactive, which has generated better and closer cooperation between the parties. The focus is on MDU’s research specialisations: Embedded Systems and Innovation and Product Realisation – two important areas of cooperation for Volvo CE's future competitiveness and for MDU's leading position in Sweden in these research domains. Collaboration is also becoming increasingly important in areas such as Future Energy, lifelong learning and attracting talent.

“We at Volvo Construction Equipment look forward to continuing our excellent cooperation with Mälardalen University. New skills, continued research and new collaborative projects are needed all the time to lead the transformation we are in,” says Melker Jernberg, CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment.
