Volvo Days gives students insight into future industry practice

As part of MDU’s collaboration with our strategic partner Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), around 50 first-year engineering students were invited to Volvo Days 2026 in Eskilstuna.
Volvo Days is Volvo CE’s major industry event, showcasing the latest developments in electrified machines, digital solutions, and future construction technology. The visit gave students a valuable opportunity to connect their studies with real industrial applications and ongoing technological development.
For many students, the visit provided an important bridge between theory and practice. They highlighted the value of seeing how concepts from their education are applied in real industrial settings, making the learning experience more tangible and relevant.
Demonstrations involving AI and VR were particularly appreciated for their engagement and relevance to future engineering and industrial challenges. At the same time, the opportunity to see advanced machinery and digital solutions in operation helped students gain a broader understanding of the industry’s ongoing transformation.
The machine demonstrations, including Volvo CE’s latest electrified equipment, along with informal networking moments such as fika and guided tours, were also highly appreciated and contributed to a positive and inspiring experience.
The visit illustrates the value of close collaboration between academia and industry in creating learning experiences that connect education with real-world applications and future industry needs.
