Sebastian Zainali awarded Wallenberg scholarship

Sebastian Zainali, who recently completed his PhD at MDU, has been awarded a scholarship from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
The scholarship has been awarded based on Sebastian’s research into agrivoltaic systems (APV) and the opportunities that further research in this field may create. APV involves combining solar power installations with agricultural production on the same area of land. The concept has significant potential to support both sustainable food production and increased generation of renewable energy.
The scholarship will fund Sebastian’s postdoctoral research at Stanford University, where he will continue developing methods for integrating solar energy generation, agriculture, water resource management and energy storage. The aim is to develop solutions that strengthen society’s resilience to climate change, drought and other extreme weather events.
