Canvas Studio replaces MDU Play

The previous video tool, MDU-play, will be replaced by Canvas Studio. If you have been using MDU-play and still have material there, you will need to download anything you wish to keep by 31 August at the latest; after that date, it will no longer be available.

Important dates

From 7 June 2026, you will no longer be able to record or upload new videos to MDU-play – please record new video content in Canvas Studio

MDU-play will be shut down completely in the autumn. The deadline for downloading any content you wish to keep is 31 August.

What will happen to my existing material in MDU-play?

If you have material in MDU-play that you wish to keep, you must download it by 31 August at the latest, and save it elsewhere or upload it to Canvas Studio.

PLEASE NOTE! Material that has not been downloaded by this date will no longer be available.

New video tool – Canvas Studio

You can already use Canvas Studio to create new material or upload existing material from MDU-play. You can find Canvas in the Canvas learning platform.

Canvas Studio makes it easier to:

• access video content directly in Canvas
• ensure that video material is accessible to everyone, including through automatic subtitles.
