Meeting for students about the university's reorganization

Currently, there is a major effort underway to reorganize MDU to more closely resemble other universities in Sweden and around the world. For those who want to know more, an information meeting will be held on March 21. See below for how to register for the meeting!

The change means that what is today four academies (HVV, IDT, EST, and UKK) will instead be divided into two faculties. The faculties will be led by deans.

Under the faculties, education and research will be organized into departments (today called divisions). The departments will be led by heads of departments.

This is more similar to how other universities around the world are organized and will facilitate collaboration for MDSU with others.

There are many advantages to making these changes, but the most important are to create larger units that have better financial support to work with strategic development and to ensure the quality of education and research.

The change also means that more responsibility and more decisions will be placed closer to education and research, which in turn can make it easier to have influence and impact as a student.
