John-Edvard Stenstrand is appointed new CEO of MDU Holding AB

The Board of MDU Holding has appointed John-Edvard Stenstrand as the new CEO of MDU Holding AB. He will take up his post on 1 August 2023.

“MDU Holding is an essential part of Mälardalen University’s (MDU) vision to be a progressive and collaborative University. I am confident that we will serve as a catalyst in translating MDU's groundbreaking research into innovations and companies that will change the world. I have a lot of enthusiasm and commitment in taking on this role,” says John-Edvard Stenstrand, incoming CEO of MDU Holding.

John-Edvard previously held the role of CEO at Västerås Science Park and he joins most recently from his role as Project Manager at MDU where he worked with innovation support and the establishment of MDU Holding.

“The Mälardalen region is expanding rapidly, while at the same time, the demand for our research has never been greater. Through MDU Holding, we can enhance our ability to commercialise our research and thus strengthen the entire region's innovation systems. In these efforts, John-Edvard will be a key player with his extensive experience from various roles in the private sector, the innovation support system and the academic community,” says Helena Jerregård, Deputy Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for collaboration at MDU and Chair of the Board of MDU Holding AB.

MDU Holding AB was established in the autumn of 2022 following the formal university status granted to MDU. The company will enable society to benefit from knowledge and research findings from MDU in line with the vision – a progressive and collaborative University where together we shape a sustainable future. MDU Holding AB is part of the University's innovation operations and works closely with MDU's innovation advice at Idélab, the innovation centre. The work is led by the holding company's Board of Directors.

MDU Holding supports the establishment of new companies, licensing deals and investments in early-stage research and student companies and supports the development of start-up companies that have a connection to MDU.
