AI and Society
AI and Society at MDU is a research initiative that brings together researchers to study the societal conditions, implications and consequences of AI for a sustainable future.
We conduct socially relevant research and aim to build a supportive community across disciplines. The initiative is organised in three interconnected tracks (with examples):
- Working life dynamics: work practices, professions, organisational routines, management, power relations
- Societal dynamics: institutions, democracy, policy, labour markets, inequality, sustainability, infrastructure, security
- Cultural dynamics: social transmission, norms, cognitive capacities, belief systems, polarisation, machine culture
We fund research projects, support associated research fellows, organise seminars, workshops and conferences, and run calls for interdisciplinary projects, networking and research infrastructure. Through these activities, we strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, enable new research projects and contribute to a growing community of scholars.
