Meet some of our researchers during Pint of Science - Science talks in your local pub. Three evenings where they share exciting insights, knowledge, and the latest within their fields. A perfect opportunity for you to meet some of the people shaping tomorrow's research! Pint of Science takes place at Café Mosaic in Västerås on May 13th - 15th. The language is English.

Programme 13 May

18:00-18:30: Solving the mysteries of water with Aquaphotomics
We will explore the intriguing world of Aquaphotomics, in which the interaction of light and water unveils nature's hidden mysteries. This cutting-edge technology sheds new light on comprehending life's most important molecule, with spectral analysis leading to new scientific discoveries and applications.
Speaker: Jan Skvaril, senior lecturer with a Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Engineering

18:30-19:00: Quizz

19:00-19:30: Colouring Sweden
Can you name famous buildings in Sweden, and how old they are? What do you know and don’t about the buildings in Västerås? Can an open data platform provide a better understanding of the built environment for a sustainable future? Let's meet and colour Sweden!
Speaker: Allan Hawas, senior lecturer in building engineering with a focus in energy and sustainability and Leo Hatvani, lecturer in computer science.

Programme 14 May

18:00-18:30: Exercise participation trends among Swedish teens
A new perspective found that most adolescents were in patterns characterized by participation in sports. However, the non-participation pattern was reoccurring, and more girls belonged to this pattern.
Speaker: Jennifer Gothilander, doctoral student in physiotherapy

18:30-19:00: Quizz

19:00-19:30: Simulation using drawings and Excel
Almost everyone uses tool like Powerpoint and Excel in their day to day and in this talk I demonstrate how I try to use these kinds of tools in my research for important simulation in industry.
Speaker: Johan Cederbladh, doctoral student in Model-Based Systems Engineering

Programme 15 May

18:00-18:30: Jewels in the air!
Thousands of years ago, skilled jewelers created ornaments and precious gems, passing their techniques down through generations. But what if these ancient methods of precision now play a vital role in the skies above us? What do ancient jewelry and jet engine components have in common? Join us to discover the fascinating links in craftmanship through the ages.
Speaker: Antonia Antoniadou, Industrial Doctoral Student in machine learning, automation, and digitalization methods.

18:30-19:00: Quizz

19:00-19:30: Measuring Max Damage: Stealth Cyberattacks on Physical Systems Hackers could target critical physical infrastructures such as nuclear reactors, electricity grids, or smart cities. If an attack is highly sophisticated, it might remain undetected by anomaly detection systems. We explore a method to assess the maximum damage that such an attack could inflict.
Speaker: Gabriele Gualandi, Associate Senior Lecturer in Computer Science
